Protein Interaction Networks
STRING was used to identify the protein interaction network of NTRK1 in homo sapiens. Finding Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) and Nerve Growth Factor Receptor (NGFR) in the interaction network makes sense because NTRK1 is activated when a nerve growth factor beta (NGFβ) binds. An interesting find in the protein interaction network was SQSTM1. Sequestosome 1 (SQSTM1) is a protein that binds ubiquitin and may regulate the activation of NFKB1 by TNF-alpha, nerve growth factor (NGF) and interleukin-1. SQSTM1 is believed to be involved in cell differentiation, apoptosis, immune response and the regulation of K(+) channels. [1]
