Domains
Discussion
Pfam and SMART were used to find the domains of the NTRK1 protein. NTRK1 belongs to the protein kinase superfamily, the tyrosine protein kinase family and the insulin receptor subfamily. Within the NTRK1 gene sequence there are 2 immunoglobin-like domains, 2 leucine-rich repeats, one LRRCT domain and one protein kinase domain. The most important domain in the gene is the tyrosine kinase domain (TyrKc or Pfam A) is responsible for protein phosphorylation, which plays a key role in cellular processes including division, proliferation, apoptosis and differentiation. Phosphorylation usually results in a functional change of the target protein by changing enzyme activity, cellular location or association with other proteins. [1]
